Aseese Grewal is a Chicago based designer. She recently graduated from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Designed Objects .
Grewal’s work is inspired by the diversity of digital and traditional practices of making. Her depth in knowledge of digital and traditional fabrication processes allow her to experiment with sculptural forms, heightening the texture of the material, while designing modular, and functional pieces. By focusing on seemingly divergent themes, Grewal frames a unique relationship between art and everyday furniture.
Grewal’s practice is driven by her appreciation for making. Her education and professional internships have expanded her skills in woodworking and metalworking. Her proficiency with making allows her to further her practice by; pushing the boundaries of material manipulation, and experimenting with sculptural forms incorporating modularity, while focusing on precision.
Grewal is currently working at 57st. design Studio in Chicago, and also entertaining commission work on client requests.
